Study explains how macrophages block anti-PD-1 mAbs

In a Science Translational Medicine paper, researchers from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School presented data that may help explain why anti-PD-1 mAbs aren't very effective for some cancer patients, and proposed a way to boost their efficacy.
The team used mouse models of cancer to show that the antibodies bind their targeted T cells only briefly before being transferred to tumor-associated macrophages, and that blocking macrophage Fc gamma receptors might prevent resistance to therapy...
