Ellison donates $200M to create USC cancer institute

Larry Ellison donated $200 million to the University of Southern California (Los Angeles, Calif.) to establish the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine of USC, which aims to combine research with prevention and treatment of cancer. The center is to house interdisciplinary cancer research laboratories, along with a care clinic, think tank and wellness program. It also intends to provide education and outreach services.

David Agus, a USC professor of engineering and medicine, will lead the institute. He is director of the USC Center for Applied Molecular Medicine and USC Norris Westside Cancer Center. ...
