Cell culture and mouse studies identified inhibitors of CDK7 that could help treat nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC). A screen of 126 small molecules identified three known inhibitors CDK7 that inhibited proliferation of seven human NPC cell lines with IC50 values of 123-883 nM. In a xenograft mouse model of NPC, one of the compounds decreased tumor cell proliferation, tumor growth and metastasis to the lungs compared with vehicle.
