Mouse studies suggest inhibiting IL5Rα or CCR3 could help treat intestinal fibrosis caused by abdominal radiation therapy. In a mouse model of abdominal radiation-induced intestinal fibrosis, a mAb targeting IL5Rα, a tool compound CCR3 inhibitor or CCR3 knockout decreased fibrous layer thickness in the small intestinal submucosa compared with no treatment or normal CCR3 expression.
