Cell culture and mouse studies suggest inhibiting DPP-8 and DPP-9 could help treat AML. In 12 human AML cell lines, the DPP-8/DPP-9 inhibitor BXCL701 or two tool compound dual DPP-8/DPP-9 inhibitors decreased viability compared with vehicle. In a xenograft mouse model of AML, BXCL701 decreased tumor burden and increased survival, and one of the dual DPP-8/DPP-9 inhibitors decreased tumor burden. In a patient-derived xenograft (PDX) mouse model of AML, BXCL701 decreased the number of cancer cells in peripheral blood and weight loss.
