Mouse studies suggest agonizing GITR could help treat insulin resistance. In genetic and high-fat diet-induced mouse models of insulin resistance, a GITR agonist mAb increased glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity and decreased fasting blood glucose levels compared with an isotype control antibody. Next steps could include testing additional GITR agonists in the models.
