BZET announced preliminary results of two studies of Alexa 1000 to diagnose breast cancer by measuring electropotential differentials between points on the breast skin surface. The studies were presented at the Joint Meeting on Senology in Florence, Italy. In 725 patients identified by mammography screening or physical examination as having lesions, the BZET test identified 90 percent of the cancerous lesions, with 40 percent specificity.

A second study in 661 patients elucidated the mechanism by which the test works. The electrical results produced by the test correlated with the histopathology grading of biopsy tissue. Tissue proliferation in cancer, BZET said, may be associated with electrical changes in breast tissue. ...
