MeMed test distinguishes between bacterial and viral infections

Data published in Pediatrics from the double-blind, Swiss and Israeli PATHFINDER validation study showed that the ImmunoXpert test from MeMed Diagnostics Ltd. (Tirat Carmel, Israel) was able to successfully distinguish between bacterial and viral infections in children. The trial enrolled 597 pediatric patients with suspected acute infections, including fever without an identifiable source, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and non-infectious controls.

The ImmunoXpert test had 94% sensitivity, 90% specificity and a 98% negative predictive value (NPV) for distinguishing between bacterial and viral infections.
