Novartis shares data on discontinued antibiotic research

Novartis AG (NYSE:NVS; SIX:NOVN) has included data from three discontinued antibacterial programs on a public data resource, the Shared Platform for Antibiotic Research and Knowledge (SPARK). SPARK is managed by The Pew Charitable Trusts, an independent, non-profit organization.

Novartis shared data from its bacterial UDP-N-acetylglucosamine acyltransferase (LpxA), bacterial UDP-3-O-[3-hydroxymyristoyl] glucosamine N-acyltransferase (LpxD) and bacterial tetraacyldisaccharide 4'-kinase family protein (LpxK) antibacterial programs that "explored new ways to attack Gram-negative bacteria,” Pew said in a statement...
