Osage University Partners' plans for investing its $215M second fund

With its academic partnering model fleshed out and half a dozen life sciences exits under its belt, Osage University Partners was able to raise a second fund twice the size of its first. Osage's William Harrington said the $215 million poured into Osage University Partners II reflects the firm's growing network of partners and investment opportunities.

Osage's first fund had its final close at $100 million in 2011. Osage debuted in 2009 to invest in tech transfer spinouts from a network of partner institutions. The institutions assign Osage their participation rights, which are contractual rights to invest in a spinout's future financing. In return, the institutions get a portion of the fund's general partner carried interest. ...
