Coleman: Republicans won't repeal 'Obamacare'

A Republican victory in the 2012 presidential election would lead to major changes in the Affordable Care Act, but not its complete repeal, former Minnesota GOP Sen. Norm Coleman predicted Sunday on BioCentury This Week television.

Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich have publicly committed to repealing the Obama administration's healthcare reform law. But according to Coleman, Republicans "are not going to repeal Obamacare." Rather, he predicted the law will be changed substantially, either as a result of a Supreme Court ruling that the individual mandate is unconstitutional, or because of steps taken by a Republican in the White House. "You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president," said Coleman, who is an advisor to Romney's campaign. ...
