CIRM awarded $40 million to create a Center of Excellence in Stem Cell Genomics. Stanford and the Salk Institute will be joint principal investigators for the center, which will focus on using genomics and stem cell research to understand disease processes and develop treatments for cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and mental health diseases.
