Onyx and CHIR have shown that the protein coded for by the tumor suppressor gene APC associates with a cell adhesion protein called beta-catenin. Mutations in the APC gene probably induce colorectal polyps by disrupting the communication among cells that control cell proliferation, the researchers speculated in Science. Their conclusions were supported by an article by Bert Vogelstein's lab at Johns Hopkins University in the same issue of the journal. ...
