NPSP (Salt Lake City) announced Phase I results in 18 post-menopausal or ovariectomized women over age 40, showing that doses up to 400 mg achieved transient, dose-dependent drops in plasma parathyroid hormone concentration. The higher doses tested apparently cut serum ionized calcium.

The women were divided into two groups, with each receiving alternate, escalating doses of the drug. All doses were well-tolerated. ...
