CHIR and SynPep Corp. settled a lawsuit alleging that SynPep (Dublin, Calif.) infringed CHIR patents in combinatorial chemistry (see BioCentury Aug. 29, 1994). SynPep agreed to respect CHIR's patent rights without any admission that infringement had occurred. CHIR (Emeryville, Calif.) sells peptide libraries through its 75 percent-owned company, Chiron Mimotopes Peptide Systems (San Diego).
