Trichuris suis ova: Interim pilot trial data

Researchers at Yeshiva University reported interim data from a double-blind, crossover pilot trial in 5 evaluable high-functioning adult patients with ASD showing that 2,500 Trichuris suis ova every 2 weeks for 12 weeks significantly improved Montefiore-Einstein Rigidity Scale (MERS), Repetitive Behavior Scale-Revised (RBS-R) Sameness Scale and Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS)-Repetitive Behaviors Scale scores vs. placebo. TSO was well tolerated. The trial has enrolled 10 patients who received TSO or placebo for 12 weeks followed by a 4-week washout period before crossing over to the other treatment arm.
