Incyte feeds off microarray competition

Incyte Genomics Inc. isn't letting its own microarray business prevent it from doing deals with other microarray companies. In fact, the company believes that the more microarray makers use its databases, the more those companies' customers will be driven back to buy other INCY products.

INCY's latest move was to grant Motorola (MOT, Schaumburg, Ill.) non-exclusive rights to the LifeSeq Gold human gene and ZooSeq animal gene sequence databases and to INCY's gene patent portfolio for use in commercializing bioarrays. MOT will develop and sell gene expression bioarrays using the databases, and INCY (Palo Alto, Calif.) will receive royalties...
