PBMs become companions
Medco and CVS Caremark could boost sales of companion diagnostics

Pharmacy benefit managers Medco Health Solutions Inc. and CVS Caremark Corp. are expanding into the management of pharmacogenomic testing in an effort to save their clients money and improve clinical outcomes. Their efforts extend beyond the tests they will manage through contracted networks of laboratories, as the PBMs are looking to include decision support for physicians and patients related to a much broader menu of pharmacogenomic tests.
