Real Desrochers joined the California Public Employees' Retirement System(CalPERS) as senior investment officer for the private equity program. He was CIO for Saudi Arabian Investment Co., and previously managed the California State Teachers' Retirement System (CalSTRS) private equity program, generating returns in excess of 17% in the decade ending in 2009. Desrochers will manage CalPERS private equity investments of about $49 billion in committed capital.
