Mexico approves Sanofi's dengue vaccine

Mexico's Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS) approved Dengvaxia ( CYD-TDV) from the Sanofi Pasteur vaccines division of Sanofi (Euronext:SAN; NYSE:SNY) to prevent dengue fever. Sanofi said the approval is the first in the world for a dengue vaccine (see BioCentury Innovations, Aug. 6).

The tetravalent dengue vaccine is approved to prevent dengue infection in people aged 9 to 45 living in endemic areas. Spokesperson Mary Kathryn Steel told BioCentury that Sanofi plans to launch Dengvaxia in Mexico in early 2016, and said the company has not yet determined its price. ...
