NIH scraps GSI, takes second swing at grant redistribution plan

Following vocal feedback from the research community, NIH said Thursday at a meeting of the Advisory Committee to the Director that it would scrap its recently proposed Grant Support Index (GSI) - a policy aimed at redistributing funds from established investigators to more early stage researchers - and replace it with the Next Generation Researchers Initiative (NGRI).
