Data Bytes: Top investors behind preclinical IPOs

Crossover investors are the most prolific backers of venture rounds for companies that have gone public on NASDAQ before entering the clinic. They account for about half of the most frequent investors, according to a BioCentury analysis of 137 venture rounds in 50 such companies.

OrbiMed Advisors and RA Capital top the list, with RA also leading in terms of total venture capital raised by rounds the firm participated in, at nearly $1.5 billion.
