Grassley investigating APA funding

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has requested an accounting from the American Psychiatric Association of funding it has received since January 2003 from pharmaceutical companies. Grassley stated in a July 10 letter to the APA that "money from the pharmaceutical industry can shape the practices of non-profit organizations which purport to be independent in their viewpoints and actions."

APA informed its members of the request in a July 11 memo and stated that it will "provide this information, which had already been available to our members." ...
