MedImmune seeing increased FluMist coverage

MEDI said additional insurers will be covering FluMist for the 2004-2005 season. CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield of Maryland, Empire BlueCross BlueShield of New York, and Aetna announced they will cover the live attenuated intranasal vaccine for this season. CareFirst said it originally decided not to cover FluMist because "it is not appropriate for the groups most in need of flu protection, and because the projected supply of flu shot vaccine would have met the needs."
