House biodefense bill introduced

Reps. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) and Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) introduced legislation in the House of Representatives that seeks to stimulate the development of bioterrorism and pandemic countermeasures. The Biodefense and Pandemic Vaccine and Drug Development Act of 2006 would create the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) within HHS as a single federal agency responsible for developing countermeasures. It would give HHS greater flexibility than exists in current law to provide incentives for drug and vaccine development, including the ability to fund the development of manufacturing capacity. ...
