Aphios, Bristol-Myers Squibb, CalBioMarine Technologies Inc., Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, One Cell Systems Inc

Aphios received a $2 million, two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Advanced Technology Program to create a library of marine microorganisms, from which Aphios will isolate and manufacture candidate compounds that can be developed into therapeutics, fine chemicals and industrial enzymes.

Participants in the program include Bristol-Myers, which will use its high throughput screening laboratories to evaluate marine microbe extracts from Aphios to find lead compounds for its cardiovascular, cancer, central nervous system, immunology and dermatology programs. ...
