IGEN (Rockville, Md.) acquired for $3 million the 50 percent of its Hypergen joint venture partnership owned by Hyperion Catalysis International. Hypergen was established to develop biomedical products using a carbon-based nanofiber.

The fibers, known as Graphite Fibrils, were developed and are manufactured by Hyperion, a privately held Cambridge, Mass., company. Graphite Fibrils provide stable nano structures with surface areas that can be chemically modified, IGEN said. ...
