Lander confirmed as Biden’s science adviser and OSTP director; plus Tranquis, Herophilus and Precigen
The U.S. Senate confirmed Eric Lander, the president and founding director of the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, as director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). President Joe Biden elevated the OSTP director to a cabinet level position. In this role Lander is expected to take a leading role in shaping the administration’s science policy, including establishment of the proposed Advanced Research Projects Agency – Health (ARPA-H). Lander served as co-chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology for President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2017.
