Illumina COO Ragusa becomes Grail CEO

Bob Ragusa has replaced Hans Bishop as CEO of Grail Inc., which Illumina Inc. (NASDAQ:ILMN) acquired for $8 billion. Ragusa, who joined Illumina in 2013, was COO of the company, a role in which he helped scale the company’s business to more than 7,000 customers in over 140 countries. Top of mind for Ragusa will be leading Grail, now an independent subsidiary of Illumina, through its legal wranglings with the European Commission. The EC threatened to penalize the companies after the genomics company completed its $8 billion acquisition of Grail before the EC had finished its review of the deal.
