As the former head of CDC and a longtime Merck executive, Julie Gerberding is bringing her expertise in infectious disease, patient engagement and managing public health crises to FNIH as CEO and a director, as the foundation continues to partner with NIH on a range of initiatives, including the development of COVID-19 countermeasures.
David Wholley, who has served as interim president and executive director of Foundation for the National Institutes of Health since the departure of Maria Freire in September, will continue to lead the foundation until Gerberding takes over the top spot May 16. ...
