U.K. biotech raises £50M to advance immuno-oncology, ulcerative colitis programs

Microbiotica has the cash it needs to get the first clinical data from its microbiome therapies after raising Europe’s largest venture round for a microbiome company.
The Cambridge, U.K.-based biotech said Monday that it raised £50 million ($65.8 million) in a series B round co-led by Flerie Invest and Tencent Holdings Ltd. The company had previously raised about $15 million across two venture financings and was bolstered by a 2018 deal with the Genentech Inc. unit of Roche (SIX:ROG; OTCQX:RHHBY) that had a total value of up to $534 million.
