Sharpless to leave NCI

Ned Sharpless announced Monday that he will step down as director of NIH’s National Cancer Institute, effective April 29. Sharpless has served as NCI’s head since 2017. He left the institute for seven months in 2019 to serve as acting FDA commissioner.
