Fiona Yu, along with most other Shanghai residents, has been locked down for over three weeks. A partner at Northern Light Venture Capital, she shares an apartment in Pudong with her husband and two boys, 2 and 5 years old. Every day, half of the people in her apartment building are allowed to stretch their legs outside, but they can’t roam far. They have no idea how long the restrictions will last, and once lifted, must prepare for the possibility that they could be reimposed on short notice.
