Single-cell T cell atlas identifies new subsets; plus CoRegen’s cell therapy and more
BioCentury’s roundup of translational news
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center scientists and collaborators reported a single-cell atlas of T cells from 308,048 transcriptomes across 16 cancer types and identified a unique stress response state, dubbed TSTR, characterized by heat shock gene expression. The authors found upregulated heat shock gene expression in intratumoral CD4/CD8+ cells from patients whose tumors had not responded to immune checkpoint inhibitor treatment, indicating a potential role of TSTR cells in resistance to immunotherapy.
“Our well-annotated T cell reference maps, web portal and automatic alignment/annotation tool could provide valuable resources for T cell therapy optimization and biomarker discovery,” said the authors of the Nature Medicine paper...
