BIO reorganizing, reimagining to increase impact
CEO Crowley is laying off 30 out of 160 staff, promoting some long-term employees, and seeking to revamp communications, enhance focus on patients
BIO President and CEO John Crowley has launched an initiative to “restructure, reorganize and reimagine” the trade association. The goal, he told BioCentury, is to increase the organization’s impact by intensifying its focus on key priorities, including patient advocacy and national security, and by revamping its approach to communications.
The changes will be familiar to anyone who has experienced or had a ringside seat to a shift in leadership at a biotech company. He has plenty of that experience to lean on: Crowley was executive chairman of Amicus Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:FOLD), a company he founded, when he took the leadership at BIO, and had served as Amicus’ CEO in 2005-22. ...
