House Select Committee wants FDA to bar applications with data from Chinese trial sites
The House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party is investigating clinical research by multinational biopharmaceutical companies at hospitals affiliated with the Chinese military and at all facilities in Xinjiang province, BioCentury has learned.
Individuals familiar with the committee’s activities, and biopharma executives who have spoken with committee staff, told BioCentury the committee’s goal is to create public pressure to persuade drug companies that market products in the U.S. to stop sponsoring trials at facilities associated with the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including hospitals that serve civilian patients, because the committee believes the trials bolster China’s military capabilities. ...
