Trump says he’ll nominate TV celebrity Oz to run CMS

If confirmed, promoter of pseudo-science, quack cures would be responsible for largest healthcare provider in the U.S.

President-elect Donald Trump has announced his intention to nominate Mehmet Oz to head the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, an agency that is responsible for providing healthcare to 130 million Americans.

Oz, a physician and celebrity, has been excoriated in academic journals and congressional hearings for promoting quack cures and advocating dangerous pseudo-science. For example, in July an editorial in Clinical Diabetes, the journal of the American Diabetes Association, criticized Oz for appearing in YouTube videos promoted on social media that touted “the miracle of cannabidiol (CBD) gummies, which he claims have proven to be an almost instant cure” for diabetes. ...
