Marks’ ouster plunges FDA into crisis

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s decision to force Peter Marks to leave FDA has plunged the agency into a deeper crisis, exacerbating the turmoil caused by arbitrary firings and massive layoffs. Given a choice between resigning and being fired as director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, Marks chose resignation.

Marks’ departure leaves FDA in an increasingly precarious state, with plummeting morale and the impending loss of about 18% of its workforce due to recent layoffs. ...
