Mycogen, Cargill Hybrid Seeds, Ciba Seeds deal

Cargill (Minneapolis) will non-exclusively distribute in the U.S. MYCO's NatureGard insect-resistant hybrid seed corn, which protects corn from the European corn borer. NatureGard includes a synthetic copy of a gene produced by Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). In August, the EPA approved the corn hybrids for marketing.
Separately, MYCO and Ciba signed a letter of intent to expand their 1993 agreement to develop insect-resistant hybrid seed corn products. Under the expanded agreement, MYCO would grant the Greensboro, N.C., company a license to develop and sell seed corn products under MYCO's patents covering genetically engineered plants that produce Bt proteins. ...
