BACH1 inhibition for tuberculosis

Inhibiting the transcription factor BACH1 could help treat tuberculosis by inhibiting pathogen-induced host cell killing via ferroptosis.

In peripheral blood monocytes, BACH1 mRNA expression was higher in asymptomatic tuberculosis patients than healthy individuals, with even higher levels in symptomatic tuberculosis patients. In whole blood samples, BACH1 mRNA expression was higher in clinical tuberculosis patients than incident tuberculosis patients or healthy individuals. In bioinformatic analyses of public patient data sets, whole blood BACH1 mRNA expression was higher in symptomatic tuberculosis patients compared with asymptomatic tuberculosis patients. ...
