Overexpressing NPM1 for ulcerative colitis

Overexpressing the nucleolar phosphoprotein NPM1 could help treat ulcerative colitis by promoting group 3 innate lymphoid cell (ILC3) mitochondrial biogenesis and metabolism, which increases intestinal ILC3 expansion and production of the intestinal epithelial cell-protecting cytokine IL-22, thus reducing intestinal inflammation.
