Inhibiting BTK or CD84 for alcohol-associated hepatitis
Inhibiting the intracellular tyrosine kinase BTK could help treat alcohol-associated hepatitis by preventing phosphorylation of the glycoprotein CD84 in granulocyte-monocyte progenitors and neutrophils, thereby decreasing hepatitis-promoting granulopoiesis and cytokine release.
Bulk RNA sequencing identified higher BTK expression in blood neutrophils from patients with alcohol-associated hepatitis than from healthy individuals, and BTK and CD84 protein levels were higher in blood and liver neutrophils from alcohol-associated hepatitis patients than from individuals without hepatitis. ...
