Inhibiting SSAT activity for inflammatory skin diseases

Inhibiting the polyamine-regulating enzyme SSAT could help treat inflammatory skin diseases by blocking immunosuppressive Treg cells from undergoing a keratinocyte 4-1BBL-induced phenotypic switch to become inflammatory effector T cells.
SSAT protein expression was higher in skin Tregs from atopic dermatitis, cutaneous sarcoidosis, and psoriasis patients than in those from individuals without the diseases.
