Clear Filters: This button clears all previously applied filters and keyword searches to reset the page.

Corresponding Author(s): The Affiliated Experts to whom correspondence should be addressed regarding the innovations in the Primary Article. Typically these are the principal investigators (PIs) of the laboratories that conducted the research published in the Primary Article. When there are multiple Corresponding Authors, each author has an associated number that can be used to match them to their respective Institutions and Countries in those respective columns.

Disclosures: All the text included in the Primary Article’s Conflict of Interest, Declaration of Interest, or otherwise named Disclosures section. Available for innovations added Oct. 12, 2023 or after.

Disease: The Disease area (e.g., “Cancer”) addressed by the innovation. The Disease categories are the same ones used by BioCentury’s BCIQ Database.

  • Patient samples
  • Higher animals
  • Mice
  • Rats
  • Drosophila

Note: A single Primary Research Article may use many experimental models.

Explore by Disease Biology: A report that helps Innovation Distillery users explore Innovations by following a journey that uses disease categories and molecular targets as key waypoints.

Explore by Origin: A report that helps Innovation Distillery users explore Innovations by following a journey that uses geographic or organization origins as key waypoints.

Innovation Class: Denotes whether an innovation proposes a New Target for a disease, or a New Compound with a disease-modifying effect. A New Target refers to a gene or protein presented in a primary article as a newly identified target for a specific disease indication, even if that Target may have been used for other indications. A New Compound refers to a novel compound that has potential relevance to a disease indication and whose development is described in a primary article. Primary articles that propose a New Target, and a New Compound against that Target, receive both tags.

Innovations (with a number below it): In the native or default state, this number reflects the count of innovations added to the Innovation Distillery since December 2014. This number is dynamic, changing whenever the user applies a filter (including Search).

Innovations (within Narrow by Affiliated Target): In the default state, this shows the number of innovations added to the Innovation Distillery since December 2014 that address this Target. The number will change to reflect the number of innovations that match filtering criteria and/or keyword searches.

Journal: An abbreviation of the peer-reviewed Journal that published the Primary Article.

Licensing Status: Denotes whether an innovation is licensed, unlicensed, available for licensing or partnering, or the status is unknown/unavailable. Licensing Status reflects BioCentury’s assessment at the time BioCentury Analyst Briefing was published. BioCentury contacts Corresponding Authors directly to inquire about the licensing status of innovations, and also consults the Disclosures statements included in the Primary Articles describing innovations.

Narrow by Affiliated Expert (Author): Bar graph visualization showing top academic Affiliated Experts in the Innovation Distillery. Affiliated Experts are the Corresponding Authors of each Primary Article describing an innovation. Click on an Affiliated Expert of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery data table and visualizations to only innovations published by that Expert.

Narrow by Affiliated Institution: Bar graph visualization showing top academic Affiliated Institutions in the Innovation Distillery. Affiliated Institutions are the primary affiliations for the corresponding authors of each Primary Article describing an innovation, as of the time of that Article’s publication. Click on an Affiliated Institution of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery report to only include innovations from that Institution.

Narrow by Country: Treemap visualization showing top Countries by origination of innovations in the Innovation Distillery. Click on a Country of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery report to only include innovations with origins in that Country. For the full list of Countries, see the Select Geography filter.

Narrow by Disease: Treemap visualization showing top Disease categories in the Innovation Distillery. Click on a Disease category of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery report to innovations affiliated with that disease. For a full list of Disease categories, use the Select Diseases/Indications filter.

Narrow by Indication: Bar graph visualization showing top Indication categories in the Innovation Distillery. Click on an Indication of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery report to innovations affiliated with that Indication. For the full list of Indications, see the Select Diseases/Indications filter.

Narrow by Innovation Class: The Donut chart visualization shows all innovations in the Distillery, classified as a New (Molecular) Target or Compound. Primary articles that include both a new Target and a new Compound are classified (tagged) as containing both. Click on your Innovation Class of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery Report to only include innovations of that type. These innovation classifications are only available for innovations added to the Innovation Distillery after April 2022.

Narrow by Target: Table visualization showing top Molecular Targets in the Innovation Distillery. Click on a Target of interest to narrow the Innovation Distillery report to innovations affiliated with that Target.
